THE TRUE COST
A heartbreaking, must-see for designers and consumers alike.
"This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing?
Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world’s leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Vandana Shiva, The True Cost is an unprecedented project that invites us on an eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes."

KOWTOW | FROM SEED TO GARMENT SERIES
Silent, simplistic yet effective Kowtow's 'From Seed to Garment' is a four part series depicts the process of cotton seed to fabric, the cutting and sewing of their garments, the creation of their knitwear and the handweaving of their organic cotton.
""From Seed To Garment" was shot in India, at fair trade certified organic cotton farms in Orissa and at our manufacturers in Mumbai and Kolkata, which we visit twice a year. The story follows cotton as it becomes fabric and recognises the craftsmanship and hands involved in making each Kowtow garment. The film is presented in four stories which are an extension of our minimalist and utilitarian aesthetic. Soundtrack by Jet Jaguar."

MINIMALISM: A DOCUMENTARY
Whilst not directly related to fashion, this documentary helps you to reflect on what's really important to you, and rethink the way you consume emphasising that less is more, and to value quality over quantity.
"How might your life be better with less? MINIMALISM: A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE IMPORTANT THINGS examines the many flavors of minimalism by taking the audience inside the lives of minimalists from all walks of life—families, entrepreneurs, architects, artists, journalists, scientists, and even a former Wall Street broker—all of whom are striving to live a meaningful life with less."

SLOW FOOD STORY
Slow Fashion is thought to be borne out of The Slow Food Movement. This film gives you insight into where slow food has been, and where it is headed and makes you consider what this could mean for our own Slow Fashion Movement.
"Slow Food Story offers a personal account of how the Slow Food movement was born 25 years ago, and its journey that has seen it spread to 150 countries. Starting with its founder still current president Carlo Petrini, director Stefano Sardo weaves a story that portrays how a group of friends from a small Italian province pursued a dream of a better world. Sardo, himself from the city of Bra in the Piedmont region, introduces us to characters like Azio, who have been at the association’s side since the beginning and offer a unique insight. It is a story of pleasure and politics, joy and sorrow, local and global friendships."

AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
It's just had it's ten year anniversary, but this film is still speaking the truths about global warning that continue to be ignored. When it comes to environmentalism, this film selection is a no brainer.
"Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim follows Al Gore on the lecture circuit, as the former presidential candidate campaigns to raise public awareness of the dangers of global warming and calls for immediate action to curb its destructive effects on the environment."
